NOTE: THE PHAT ROOMS HAVE BEEN ASSIGNED FOR RAGBRAI 2014. (If anyone cancels, we have a long list of people who want the room, but we can add your name to the list. Email tammypav@cox.net.)
Please see our slide show (home page) for exterior photos of the PBV PHAT Trailers.
Pork Belly Ventures owns three trailers, each with ten 80-square-foot air-conditioned guestrooms on board. These rooms are the new ultimate in weeklong Pork accommodation.
PHAT guests sleep high on the hog, with hotel-style amenities right in camp.
Two of our trailers are outfitted as follows: two queen-sized beds bunked one above the other and a third optional twin-trundle available (additional charge); mattresses, sheets, pillows, and blankets; air-conditioning; carpeting and sound-muffling insulation between rooms; knotty pine ceilings; electrical outlets, switched lights at the ceiling and the head of each bed; shelving and wall hooks for convenient duffel and clothing storage; a small cooler stocked daily with ice and bottled water; an outdoor deck with chairs; a daily straighten-up from our housekeeping crew; locking storm door and window; space for locking bicycles under the trailer. There is no baggage limit for PHAT guests, and of course, you won't need to pack up during the week. You can stay in your room until 7:30 a.m. if you like (check-out time can vary slightly from one year to the next, depending on how we handle trucking). A quiet generator will be dedicated to this trailer, and all rooms will be equipped with smoke detectors. PHAT occupants can receive "Wake-Up Call" morning coffee delivered to their room each day and two loads of midweek laundry delivered clean and folded to your room, and a flat-screen, wall-mounted DVD player with remote. [Bring your own DVDs.]
The newest trailer is outfitted as follows: twin bunk beds to the right of the entry, and on the left, an upper bunk with a sofa/futon below. There is also a swing-out twin trundle on the floor. This room can sleep five people in their own beds. All beds have mattresses, sheets, pillows, and blankets. Other room features are air-conditioning; carpeting and sound-muffling insulation between rooms; knotty pine walls; electrical outlets, switched lights at the ceiling and the head of each bed; shelving and wall hooks for convenient duffel and clothing storage; a small cooler stocked daily with ice and bottled water; an outdoor deck with chairs; a daily straighten-up from our housekeeping crew; locking storm door and window; space for locking bicycles under the trailer. Room dimensions are about 8' X 10' with 9' ceilings and great use of vertical space. Rooms can accommodate one to five sleepers. When nature calls, PHAT guests will walk to the kybos as usual. PHAT guests agree to keep it quiet after 10:00 p.m. PHAT guests will secure breakables and spillables for the town-to-town drive. The 2014 cost was $2700 per room for bunked queen beds, and $3000 for the new room design with twin beds. The charge for an optional trundle was $100
